Start your Whales server before getting started here (whales server) inside of your fresh new bot project.
All Facebook Messenger bots come from pages that you manage. Before setting up your bot to interact with your Whales server, you'll have to create a page (the name and details can be anything!)

Between Business or brand and Community or public figure, you can select either option. Your category can also be an arbitrary choice.

Optionally, you may add a profile picture and a cover photo. You can skip these steps after creating your page and update them later, if you wish.
First, navigate to https://developers.facebook.com and click the Get started button:
Follow along with the verification instructions that popup from this step. It may ask for your phone number for an SMS confirmation to be sent.
You can identify your use case as a Developer in the final step.
You should get a confirmation screen like this when you're finished:
Click Add your First Product to proceed! You can accept the default options, like "Your Name's first app" as the name of your app.
You should now see a page that looks like:
Lots of overwhelming options. Scroll down to the Messenger section you see on the bottom right!
To continue, click the Set Up button under the Messenger section.
